21. 1. – 26. 4. 2026
In the years 1940–1945, in connection with the expansion of the military training area in the Drahany region, the Czech population was displaced. This involved a total of 33 municipalities from the former political districts of Vyškov, Prostějov and Blansko. More than 17,000 persons were displaced. The gradual post-war return of the population and their efforts for the overall restoration of the area were important for the subsequent development of the area. The eviction of the Drahany region is an important stage of the so-called internal forced migrations in the 20th century. It has played a significant role in shaping the cultural identity of the inhabitants of Moravia up to the present day.
The exhibition will be officially opened on January 20, 2026 at the Museum of the Vyškov Region, where it will be open to the public until April 26, 2026. As part of the exhibition, visitors will see a unique documentary film containing previously unpublished footage from the National Film Archive. Further there will be an interactive map on a touch screen with phases of the expulsion. The visitors will also be able to buy an extensive publication dedicated to this neglected topic. The exhibition will feature a number of accompanying programmes, including educational programmes for school groups. Detailed information on the exhibition and accompanying events at www.mzm.cz.
